The Texas Weightlifting Development
Center is a cooperative effort between the national
governing board of the sport of weightlifting in the USA and Midwestern
State University, Wichita Falls Athletic Club, Bone Unit, and CrossFit
Wichita Falls. It's mission is to use the pooled resources of these entities
to more fully develop evidence based methodologies of producing competitive
weightlifters and to promote participation in weightlifting.

Research Initiatives at Midwestern State University - Lon Kilgore PhD - The future of the strength training research program at MSU is questionable. Renovations to Ligon Coliseum eliminated, without inclusion of the sponsoring department or staff in planning, the Strength Research Laboratory.
Collegiate Athlete Development - MSU Weightlifting (5 Collegiate National Team Titles 1999 to 2009) - The future of the Collegiate Program is questionable. Renovations to Ligon Coliseum at MSU eliminated the present training facility for collegiate lifters and the new student fitness center eliminated all Olympic weights from its equipment inventory. The bottom line is that there is no facility or equipment support on campus for Olympic lifters or Powerlifters.
